Therapeutic Bodyworks LLC was established in 2001 as a home based business. By 2004 the business grew, relocating to the country setting of the  “Advertiser / Red Barn Professional Building” in Averill Park. Located at 29 Sheer Road,  the interior is Adirondack themed and provides a relaxing refuge for a treatment room.

A variety of therapeutic techniques are available to meet each client’s individual needs, including: Pregnancy, Sports, Relaxation / Stress Relief Massage, Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, European Hot Stone Therapy and Reiki. Comfort Massage (light techniques for fragile client’s) is also available.

In order to meet the varied needs of the clients we see, continuing education in new modalities is an important and on-going process at Therapeutic Bodyworks LLC.

Claire Hanley RN / LMT /Owner

TBW head shots 011I had been a Registered Nurse for 20 years when I decided to become a Licensed Massage Therapist. The vast majority of my nursing experience was in critical care settings, but also included home care and some hospice work. I loved the challenges and the technology of critical care while I was in that arena. (I was in my twenty’s and thirty’s, by the way and I don’t think my picture is giving away any secrets!) Moving back to this area created a chance for new beginnings.

I am a firm believer in “everything in it’s own time.” The time for being a critical care nurse seemed to have passed. When I saw that a massage therapy school would soon be opening in this area, I knew it was time to follow my dream of not only becoming a massage therapist, but also owning my own business. Being a business owner can certainly have its own challenges.  I welcome those challenges. Being a massage therapist is my passion now.

I love the idea of people leaving my office feeling so much better than when they came in; working individually with client’s and creating a session that addresses their concerns on that day. No drugs, no dressings, no injections (there is, of course, a time and a place for these things). “Everything in it’s own time”, priceless!

I am a 2001 graduate of The Center for Natural Wellness School of Massage Therapy. I have been employed in Saratoga at the historic Lincoln Bath House and the Roosevelt Bath and Spa from 2001 to 2012. It is a privilege at this time to be working with my dear friend Claire Hanley at Therapeutic Bodyworks.

Throughout my years as a massage therapist I have learned that everyone can enjoy and can benefit from receiving bodywork. I know first hand that it is incredible to be the recipient of a massage and I find great joy by giving a therapeutic massage knowing my client will walk away with a sense of well-being.

I look forward to helping new clients realize the value of massage and the many opportunities that will be presented to me in Averill Park.
